Pasatiempo - - MIXED MEDIA -

A family of one-upping actors and writers populates The Country House ,a play by Donald Margulies that premiered at the Samuel J. Friedman Theater in Manhattan in 2014. That production starred Blythe Danner in the role of aging Broadway star Anna Patterson, and received tepid critical reviews. Red Thread Theater Santa Fe offers the Southwest premiere in a production directed by Janet Davidson, opening at El Museo Cultural de Santa Fe (555 Camino de la Familia) on Friday, Nov. 13, at 7:30 p.m. Lucinda Marker takes on the role of Anna, the dysfunctional matriarch; Todd Anderson plays Michael Astor, the object of every woman’s advances; and JD Garfield is the struggling playwright Elliot Cooper in this Chekhov-inspired concoction. The Country House runs through Nov. 29, with Friday and Saturday shows at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 4 p.m. Tickets, $20, $15 for students and seniors, are available at www.brownpapertick or by calling 800-838-3006.
