Sea­sonal sta­ple: Han­del’s Mes­siah

And sud­denly it’s that time of year again: the sea­son of Han­del’s Mes­siah, cour­tesy of the Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra and Cho­rus. The cast of char­ac­ters is fa­mil­iar from last sea­son, com­pris­ing guest con­duc­tor Tom Hall (mu­sic di­rec­tor of the Bal­ti­more Choral Arts So­ci­ety), so­prano Devon Guthrie, tenor Joshua Den­nis, and bass-bari­tone Joseph Beu­tel. A new par­tic­i­pant this year, how­ever, is mezzo-so­prano Alyssa Martin, who last sum­mer was an ap­pren­tice artist at Santa Fe Opera. Per­for­mances are at 7:30 p.m. on Satur­day, Nov. 21, and 4 p.m. on Sun­day, Nov. 22, at the Len­sic Per­form­ing Arts Cen­ter (211 W. San Francisco St.).
