Pasatiempo - - RANDOM ACTS -

Views of Palmyra before and after the ISIL attacks, in 2010 (top) and 2015 (bottom) . The albums containing photos of Palmyra (left) are now in the possession of the Palace of the Governors Photo Archives, having been transferred from the Laboratory of Anthropology in 1976. We may never be able to completely explain how this historically significant archive arrived in Santa Fe. What we do know is that it represents a lost world.

The photo albums assembled by the Butler expeditions (left, courtesy Palace of the Governors Photo Archives) are key documents of Zenobia’s vanished capital, seen opposite page circa 1910 (courtesy Palace of the Governors Photo Archives #096004).
