Shakin’ the blues away: Cir­cus Lu­mi­nous

There is so much strife in the world right now that for­get­ting your cares might seem im­pos­si­ble. But if you’ve been wish­ing for a way to shake off the dark­ness for a few hours, you should know that the cir­cus is in town. Wise Fool New Mex­ico presents its 12th an­nual Cir­cus Lu­mi­nous all week­end at the Len­sic Per­form­ing Arts Cen­ter (211 W. San Francisco St.). Cir­cus Lu­mi­nous is di­rected this year by Danielle Red­dick, a mem­ber of the ex­per­i­men­tal per­for­mance ensem­ble at Theater Grottesco, and it fea­tures aeri­al­ists, ac­ro­bats, cy­clers, and dancers from Wise Fool, break-danc­ing ensem­ble 3 HC Holy Faith, and youth per­form­ers from the New Mex­ico School for the Arts, Mov­ing Arts Es­pañola, and Peñasco Theater Col­lec­tive. A live orchestra of lo­cal mu­si­cians per­forms mu­sic com­posed and di­rected by Jeremy Ble­ich. It’s a truly home­grown af­fair that has be­come a Thanks­giv­ing tra­di­tion in Santa Fe.
