Found: The Milk Carton Kids

Pasatiempo - - RANDOM ACTS -

The Milk Carton Kids, an indie folk duo who play melodious harmonies, have charmed the National Public Radio crowd as well as the Grammy nominating committee, who put them up for Best Folk Album of 2013 for their album, The Ash & Clay. The thirty-something folk singers from Eagle Rock, California, elicit comparisons to Simon and Garfunkel and the Everly Brothers. Kenneth Pattengale and Joey Ryan have been playing guitar and singing together, with quietly restrained emotion, since 2011. They are not missing, as their kitschy ’80s retro name would indicate — they are touring for the release of their fourth album, Monterey. The Milk Carton Kids play at the Lensic Performing Arts Center (211 W. San Francisco St.) at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 8. Tickets, $20 and $25, can be purchased by calling 505-988-1234 or visiting www.tick — Jennifer Levin
