White Winter Day

Pasatiempo - - CHILDREN'S POETRY - Deedee Jansen, twelve, is in the seventh grade at Santa Fe School for the Arts & Sciences.

Look out the window on a fresh day I hear the birds singing, and Although I know I’m close to them I feel so far away. On this white winter day snow leaps in the air The light dancing in a Way only nature knows. Everything is playing in its own secret place. Even a child laughing away the day slides down the hill ready to set off on an adventure And knowing when they come back there will be someone waiting To wrap them up in their arms. My secret place is by my fire heating up my fingertips on this white wintry day
