Once upon a time in Albuquerque
In 1954, Bill Haley & His Comets recorded “Rock Around the Clock,” the U.S. Navy launched its first nuclear submarine, and the first “storybook ranch houses” were built in Albuquerque and Southern California. These homes, featuring extravagantly cute design elements and developed with the “happy wife” in mind, are the focus of All You Can Lose Is Your Heart ,anew book by former Albuquerque Tribune photographer KayLynn Deveney. She signs copies at Photo-eye Bookstore on Saturday, Jan. 9. On the cover is her photo of one of Dale Bellamah’s whimsical Albuquerque houses; courtesy KayLynn Deveney.
