David O’Brien : Colorado River
2016, acrylic and metallic paint on panel
Center for Contemporary Arts, 1050 Old Pecos Trail, 505-982-1338 “Micro ruins” are what Santa Fe-based artist David O’Brien calls the small, discarded elements such as shredded tires and other ephemera that enter into his landscapes. O’Brien’s exhibition In the Garden of Externalities opens Friday, Jan. 22 with a free 5 p.m. reception. The show includes paintings and a large-scale video installation that reflect O’Brien’s curiosity about found objects and states of decay. The exhibit is in the Cinematheque Lobby Gallery.
