Ge­or­gia O’Ke­effe Mu­seum, 217 John­son St., 505-946-1000 Su­san York: Car­bon is an in­stal­la­tion of graphite draw­ings and cast graphite sculp­ture by the Santa Fe-based artist. York’s works are placed through­out the mu­seum, jux­ta­posed with the paint­ings and draw­ings of Ge­or­gia O’Ke­effe in the multi-themed ex­hi­bi­tion A Great Amer­i­can Artist. A Great Amer­i­can Story, which opened on Jan. 21. “Graphite was known as a prepara­tory ma­te­rial un­til the mod­ernists of the twen­ti­eth cen­tury be­gan pre­sent­ing graphite draw­ings as fin­ished works of art,” writes mu­seum cu­ra­tor Carolyn Kast­ner. The re­cep­tion for Su­san York: Car­bon is Fri­day, Feb. 5, at 5 p.m. and is free.
