Pasatiempo - - RANDOM ACTS -

Steve Poltz, an awesome guitarist and performer and a prolific songwriter — including for movie soundtracks and television shows — plays the Jean Cocteau Cinema (418 Montezuma Ave., 505-466-5528), at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 31. The Nova Scotia-born singer toured in the 1990s with the indie rock band the Rugburns, which he co-founded. Poltz also hooked up musically with Jewel; their ballad “You Were Meant for Me” was on her debut album and became a hit. In turn, she was co-writer and singer on several songs for his 1998 solo debut album, One Left Shoe. Tickets for the Jean Cocteau show are $17 if purchased in advance (www.holdmyticket.com) or $22 at the door. — Paul Weideman
