You might rec­og­nize Cindy Bul­lens’ voice from the songs “Freddy, My Love” and “It’s Rain­ing on Prom Night” on the 1978 orig­i­nal sound­track to the mo­tion pic­ture

Grease or from her solo rock al­bums, in­clud­ing De­sire Wire (1978), Steal the Night (1979), and, af­ter the death of her young daugh­ter from can­cer, Some­where Be­tween Heaven

and Earth (1999). Bul­lens has played with Bob Dy­lan, El­ton John, and John Mel­len­camp, among oth­ers, and though not a house­hold name, the Grammy-nom­i­nated artist has al­ways been a crit­i­cal dar­ling. In 2011, af­ter 40 years in the mu­sic in­dus­try, Cindy tran­si­tioned to Cidny and claimed the gen­der he’d al­ways known he was. In Some­where Be­tween: A One Wo/Man Show, di­rected by Tanya Tay­lor Ru­bin­stein, Bul­lens re­lays his story in song and im­ages, alone on stage with his gui­tar at t he Rai­l­yard Per­for­mance Cen­ter (1611 Paseo de Per­alta). The open­ing per­for­mance, on Fri­day, Feb. 26, at 6 p.m., fol­lowed by a re­cep­tion, is a fundraiser to ben­e­fit South­west Care Cen­ter; tick­ets are $100.
