From the nymph’s perspective
Angela Fraleigh draws from folklore, mythology, and art history for compositions that reimagine the role of women in Baroque and Rococo- era paintings. Fraleigh combines abstraction and representationalism to suggest new narratives for background and sideline figures from the paintings of the Old Masters. Her work is on view in the group show New Baroque: The Imperfect Pearl at David Richard Gallery through April 23. On the cover is Fraleigh’s 2015 oil painting Stillness Steps.
