Danc­ing the night away: Chore­og­ra­phers’ Show­case

The 29th an­nual Chore­og­ra­phers’ Show­case may not be ad­ver­tis­ing it­self as a dance marathon, but with 20 pieces on the bill, ac­cord­ing to Jas­mine Quin­sier, the Dance Coali­tion’s pro­ducer for the event, it prom­ises to be a mul­ti­hour event. Among those per­form­ing are Spar­row Dance Com­pany, a mod­ern dance group, Mo­saic Dance Com­pany, which cel­e­brates Mid­dle East­ern dance, stu­dents from Dance Space Santa Fe, and two groups from Al­bu­querque — Desert Dar­lings Belly Dance and Four Winds Fu­sion, a jazz/ belly-dance com­pany. There will also be a sword dance, a hula-hoop piece, and a f lamenco col­lab­o­ra­tion be­tween dancer Esmé Olivia and flutist John Martinez. The Dance Coali­tion, which raises money for schol­ar­ships for young dancers all over New Mex­ico, presents the show­case on Fri­day, March 25, and Satur­day, March 26, at 7 p.m. at the Rai­l­yard Per­for­mance Cen­ter (1611 Paseo de Per­alta). Tick­ets will be sold at the door. There is a $10-$15 slid­ing fee and no charge for chil­dren un­der twelve.
