In the pe­riod: Music for Sev­er­all Friends

Four spe­cial­ists in pe­riod-in­stru­ment play­ing — vi­o­lin­ist El­iz­a­beth Blu­men­stock, flutist Carol Red­man, vi­ola da gamba player Mary Springfels, and harp­si­chordist Kath­leen McIn­tosh — team up for a pro­gram of Baroque music un­der the aus­pices of the Music for Sev­er­all Friends se­ries. At the cen­ter of the ac­tion is Ge­org Philipp Tele­mann, the en­tre­pre­neur ex­traor­di­naire of the late Baroque and an es­teemed friend of both Bach and Han­del. He’ll be rep­re­sented by two of his “Paris” Flute Quar­tets as well as a solo flute fan­tasy. Round­ing out the show are pieces by two of his con­tem­po­raries: a duo for flute and vi­o­lin by Joseph Bodin de Bo­is­mortier and a key­board cha­conne by Jo­hann Cas­par Fer­di­nand Fischer. The group presents its “Tele-ma­nia” pro­gram twice: at 7:30 p.m. on Fri­day, April 8, at San Miguel Chapel (401 Old Santa Fe Trail) with tick­ets, $20, avail­able at the door; and at 7 p.m. on Satur­day, April 9, at St. Joseph’s Parish Church (7 First St.), Cer­ril­los, with a sug­gested do­na­tion of $15. — James M.
