On the rise: Alexi Kenney
This March, violinist Alexi Kenney was one of six musicians to be awarded a 2016 Avery Fisher Career Grant, a nice feather in the cap of any classical performer on the rise. Kenney made a firm impression when he appeared with the Santa Fe Symphony as a soloist last season, and now he returns to lead a small ensemble from the orchestra in Vivaldi’s perennially popular group of concertos known as The Four Seasons. Also on this program of chamber-scaled works is Bach’s Double Concerto for Violin and Oboe (in which Kenney is joined by oboist Elaine Heltman) and Mozart’s genial Divertimento in D major, K.136/125a. The concert takes place at 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 10, at the Lensic Performing Arts Center (211 W. San Francisco St). Tickets ($23-$80) can be arranged directly through the Symphony (505-983-1414) or through the Lensic (505-988-1234, www.ticketssantafe.org). — J.M.K.
