Singer/songwriter Frankie Cosmos; violinist Alexi Kenney and the Santa Fe Symphony; Music for Severall Friends; Birds of Chicago

Next Thing, the new album by Frankie Cosmos, has the spirit of a 1960s girl band, like The Crystals or The Shirelles, and the knowing experience of a twenty-two-year-old born-and-raised New Yorker. Frankie Cosmos (given name: Greta Kline) is an economic songwriter who delivers concise bits of feeling on an even keel. Neither ironically twee nor desperately emotive, her style is poppy, even boppy, yet is suited for both post-breakup or party listening. Kline is the daughter of actors Kevin Kline and Phoebe Cates, dedicated parents who reportedly home-schooled her for most of high school. She’s a talent, and she plays an all-ages show at the Meow Wolf Art Complex (1352 Rufina Circle, 505-780-4458) at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at www.meowwolf.com. — Jennifer Levin
