The Alhambra remembered: Ana Vidović
The Croatian guitarist Ana Vidovic´ arrives in town to play transcriptions of a Bach suite for unaccompanied cello and two Scarlatti keyboard sonatas, as well as several works originally penned for the guitar by Agustín Barrios Mangoré, Manuel Ponce, Toru Takemitsu, and Francisco Tárrega (his ubiquitous “Recuerdos de la Alhambra,” without which guitarists would all just have to pack it in and go home). The concert takes place at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 15, in St. Francis Auditorium (New Mexico Museum of Art, 107 W. Palace Ave.) in conjunction with the museum’s exhibit Medieval to Metal: The Art and Evolution of the Guitar.
