Great things are happening at Street Food Institute, the vividly striped food-truck-with-a-purpose that is lately anchored in the gravelly lot across the street from Kaune’s Neighborhood Market and the Roundhouse. With the support of chef and program director David Sellers (formerly of Santacafé and Amavi), SFI offers aspiring young cooks classroom instruction and hands- on, realworld experience so they’ll be equipped to start businesses of their own down the road. The menu here is brief and varying, but its intriguing options might include curry, tacos, a burger, and an assortment of sandwiches. Recommended: Korean barbecue short-rib tacos, Reuben and Cajun chicken sandwiches.
