Circus circus: BitterSweet
Using a loose theme of borders, walls, and neighbors connected by flowering fruit and vines, the preprofessional performers in BitterSweet — A Fruitful Circus spin, twist, flip, and fly their way through gravity-defying acts of strength and endurance. BitterSweet is the second annual CircAspire community performance, a project for advanced students at Wise Fool New Mexico. Children and adults engage the audience with clowning, stilt-walking, break-dancing, and aerial dance, along with visual art, spoken work, and original music. Performances of BitterSweet are 7 p.m. Friday, April 29; 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday, April 30; and 4 p.m. Sunday, May 1, at the Wise Fool performance space (1131-B Siler Road, 505-992-2588). Tickets for adults are $10-$20, with discounts available, and $5 for children ages twelve and younger; buy them at www.wisefoolnewmexico.org. — J.L.
