All in the fam­ily: An­toine Roney Trio

SFé Jazz presents the An­toine Roney Trio on Mon­day, May 2, at Joseph’s of Santa Fe (428 Agua Fría St.). Roney, a New York­based sax­o­phon­ist, has re­leased sev­eral al­bums of his own and has worked with his brother, trum­pet player Wal­lace Roney, as well as with drum­mers Cindy Black­man, Elvin Jones, and Alphonse Mouzon over the past 25 years. He plays Santa Fe with bassist Rashaan Carter and drum­mer Kojo Roney — the band­leader’s son, an amaz­ing player who will be twelve years old in June. An­toine’s re­cent Face­book posts in­clude historic clips of Ella Fitzger­ald and Can­non­ball Ad­der­ley and of Kojo play­ing with out-there sax­man Pharoah San­ders.
