Candice Methe: Water Storage
2016, earthenware, terra sigillata
Santa Fe Clay, 545 Camino de la Familia, 505-984-1122 Master ceramists John Beckelman, Bede Clarke, and Candice Methe explore the vessel in a group show at Santa Fe Clay. Beckelman draws inspiration from Neolithic storage vessels and from nature for his minimalist, reductive forms. Clarke’s wood-firing process creates abstract surface patterns in his geometric vessels. Methe’s works are coilbuilt, and she employs a terra sigillata technique adapted from ancient pottery methods, adding depth to her elegant, monochromatic pieces. The reception is Friday, May 20, at 5 p.m.
