Live at the Museum Hill Café: Tootie Heath
Albert “Tootie” Heath, a living-legend jazz drummer, plays Museum Hill Café (710 Camino Lejo) on the evening of Friday, June 10. Heath, born in Philadelphia in 1935, cut his teeth playing in his twenties with John Coltrane, J.J. Johnson, Benny Golson, Cannonball Adderley, and McCoy Tyner, to name a few. He went on to play on hundreds of albums — and to release his own Tootie’s Tempo with relative youngsters Ethan Iverson and Ben Street in 2013. Heath, who is a Santa Fe resident of late, makes music in this Santa Fe Music Collective gig with pianist Bert Dalton and bassist Andy Zadrozny. The music starts at 7 p.m. Call 505-983-6820 for information and reservations; tickets are $25. — P.W.
