Aspen Santa Fe Ballet has acquired a new piece, Little Mortal Jump, originally choreographed by Alejandro Cerrudo in 2012 for Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, the contemporary dance company where Cerrudo is resident choreographer. A musical collage, including pieces by Philip Glass, Tom Waits, and the alternative rock band Beirut, helps create a dreamy atmosphere — dancers continually come into and out of the piece, appearing, like ghosts, and then fading away. Also on the program is Fernando Melo’s intriguing piece Re:play and Nicolo Fonte’s The

Heart(s)pace, a fast-twitch dance bathed in red and orange light — perfect for a hot summer night. Performances are at Lensic Performing Arts Center (211 W. San Francisco St.) on Friday, July 15, and Saturday, July 16, at 8 p.m. Tickets, $25-94, are available by calling 505-988-1234 or visiting www.ticketssantafe.org.
