Dec­o­ra­tive de­cay: Ka­teri Chambers

Ka­teri Chambers of­fers solo-flute works from the 16th through 20th cen­turies by way of ex­am­in­ing the ques­tion “Has mu­si­cal or­na­men­ta­tion trans­mo­gri­fied or de­cayed over time?” A Bos­ton­based spe­cial­ist in early mu­sic, she will per­form on a va­ri­ety of pe­riod-ap­pro­pri­ate in­stru­ments, from Re­nais­sance and Baroque mod­els through to eight-key in­stru­ments and sil­ver flutes of more re­cent eras. This half-hour event, the weekly in­stall­ment of the TGIF se­ries at First Pres­by­te­rian Church (208 Grant Ave.) be­gins at 5:30 p.m. on Fri­day, Sept. 2.
