Lindsay Oesterritter: Set of Pourers (detail)
2016, iron-rich stoneware
Santa Fe Clay, 545 Camino de la Familia, 505-984-1122 The ceramic works of Bryan Hopkins, Lindsay Oesterritter, and Bill Wilkey embrace functionality and sculptural aesthetics. Hopkins shows pieces from his Dysfunction Series, a twist on seemingly utilitarian vessels that can’t be effectively used for most practical purposes. Oesterritter’s forms are made in a reduction-cooled, wood-fired process that gives them the appearance of ancient or historic pottery. Wilkey creates usable objects that call out to be touched but, at the same time, have the presence of sculpture. A three-person show of their works opens Friday, Sept. 2, with a reception at 5 p.m.
