High on the hill: Hillary Smith
Hillary Smith, the whiskeyvoiced singer known for her alternately soulful and powerful R&B performances, hits more of a bebop groove for a gig Friday, Oct. 28, at the Museum Hill Café, 710 Camino Lejo. The Hobbs native takes a break from her work with hONEyhoUSe, her band with Yvonne Perea and Mandy Buchanan, for the 7 p.m. concert of blues and jazz standards. Smith sings in front of a quartet: saxophonist Glenn Kostur, pianist Jim Ahrend, bassist Colin Deuble, and drummer John Trentacosta. Admission is $25 ($20 for members of the sponsoring Santa Fe Music Collective). Call 505-983-6820 for ticket availability.
