Jazz stan­dard time: Patti Lit­tle­field and Arlen Asher

Vo­cal­ist Patti Lit­tle­field and multi-in­stru­men­tal­ist Arlen Asher lead a jazzy combo with bassist Colin Deu­ble, pi­anist John Ran­gel, and drum­mer John Trenta­costa at the Mu­seum Hill Café at 7 p.m. Fri­day, Dec. 9. Lit­tle­field said the con­cert will fea­ture “time­less and lesser-known jazz stan­dards with some dis­tinct blue notes.” She has a deep ré­sumé work­ing both coasts as well as New Mex­ico, where in ad­di­tion to more con­ven­tional jazz dates, she has duet­ted with tuba player Mark Weaver and per­formed with poet Jimmy San­ti­ago Baca. Asher is a renowned jazz ed­u­ca­tor and player on all types of clar­inets, flutes, and sax­o­phones. He led the Vel­ve­tones, the Arlen Asher-Bob Brown Quar­tet, and the Arlen Asher Quin­tet and was a long­time mem­ber of the South­west Jazz Or­ches­tra and Trenta­costa’s Straight Up band. This con­cert prom­ises to be dy­na­mite. Tick­ets are $25 ($20 for Santa Fe Mu­sic Col­lec­tive mem­bers).
