The tippling point: No Man’s Land

Pasatiempo - - RANDOM ACTS -

Sirs Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart have performed together on stage and screen, and their friendship has become internet-famous, with the website BuzzFeed dubbing it “the best friendship in the world” based on a series of pictures Stewart tweeted of them sightseeing together around New York City in 2013. The pair were in rehearsals for Harold Pinter’s No Man’s Land on Broadway at the time, which they subsequently revived at London’s Wyndham’s Theatre. That production is broadcast as part of the National Theater Live series at the Lensic Performing Arts Center (211 W. San Francisco St.) on Wednesday, Dec. 21, at 7 p.m. The men play a pair of aging writers, Hirst and Spooner, who spend a long drunken evening messing with each other’s minds. The broadcast includes a question-and-answer session with the cast and director Sean Mathias. Tickets, $22, are available at www.ticketssantafe.org or by calling 505-988-1234. — Jennifer Levin
