Peters Projects, 1011 Paseo de Per­alta, 505-954-5800 Peru­vian-born artist Kukuli Ve­larde mines pre-Columbian ce­ram­ics and colo­nial-era Peru­vian paint­ing in the ex­hibit Plun­der Me Baby, on view through Feb. 11, 2017. Kukuli re­casts pre-Columbian art forms as self-por­traits that ref­er­ence in­dige­nous strug­gles un­der Euro­pean col­o­niza­tion. The show in­cludes se­lec­tions from her Ca­dav­ers se­ries, fig­u­ra­tive paint­ings that con­flate colo­nial Peru­vian works with con­tem­po­rary im­agery on re­li­gious, po­lit­i­cal, sex­ual, and gen­der is­sues.
