The Institute of American Indian Arts throws a Winter Readers Gathering

Writers’ voices: IAIA’s Winter Readers Gathering Early January, often a quiet time in wintry Santa Fe, is a frenzy of learning, feedback, and creativity for students, professors, and visiting writers in the Institute of American Indian Arts’ low-residency Master of Fine Arts program. Students, who spend most of each semester learning via correspondence with their instructors, convene on campus for a week filled with workshops, one-on-one meetings, and nightly readings and film screenings that are free and open to the public. This year’s Winter Readers Gathering features an eclectic and diverse array of well-known and critically acclaimed Native and non-Native writers, including National Book Award finalists Andre Dubus III (House of Sand and Fog and Dirty Love) and Ross Gay (Bringing the Shovel Down and Catalog of Unabashed Gratitude).
