Earl Stroh (1924-2005): First Day 1977, lithograph
Aaron Payne Fine Art, 213 E. Marcy St., 505-995-9779 The exhibition of paintings by Earl Stroh continues through January. Stroh, a Taos Modernist, studied under Randall Davey, Raymond Jonson, and Kenneth Miller Adams in New Mexico, but he considered Andrew Dasburg his mentor. His atmospheric, abstract works on paper convey a sense of landscape using a minimal use of line and subtle forms and color. The exhibit includes several of the compositions Stroh made in Taos.
