Romantic comedy is on order for Valentine’s Day Weekend with a staged reading of Susan Sandler’s 1985 play at the Santa Fe Playhouse (142 E. De Vargas St.). Isabelle, a bookseller, and Sam, a pickle peddler, are fixed-up by a marriage broker on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Isabelle’s old-fashioned grandmother just wants her to find love — which Isabelle would prefer come in the form of a writer she admires, not a man who works with brine — but romance has a way of delivering exactly what we thought we did not want. The reading, directed by Maura Studi, is on Saturday, Feb. 11, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 12, at 2 p.m. Admission is a suggested donation of $10 with no advance ticket sales.
