Lucky seven: Short plays by David Ives

Pasatiempo - - RANDOM ACTS -

Oh, to be young and in love and a mayfly — and learn, while on a great date, that you live for only one day, so your death is imminent. Such is the wry yet sophisticated sense of humor of playwright David Ives. Cristina Duarte directs Santa Fe University of Art and Design students in seven short plays by Ives, who is just as likely to write about construction workers on their lunch break as he is the love lives of bugs. Philip Glass Buys a Loaf of Bread; Long Ago and Far Away; Foreplay Or: The Art of the Fugue; Mere Mortals;Time Flies; It’s All Good; and English Made Simple are performed at the Greer Garson Theatre (1600 St. Michael’s Drive) on Friday, Feb. 24, at 7 p.m., with additional shows through March 4; show times are 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 26.
