Wilson Hurley (1924-2008): Morning Clouds not dated, oil on canvas
Blue Rain Gallery in the Railyard, 544 S. Guadalupe St., 505-954-9902 The landscape paintings of Wilson Hurley are reminiscent of those by the Hudson River School painters. Hurley spent most of his life in New Mexico, which influenced his subject matter. “His view of the world was shaped by a strong sense of history and how art itself has changed with changes in technology and perception,” states the biography on his family-maintained website. Hurley, along with Fritz Scholder, Allan Houser, and other artists are represented in the Legacy Show at Blue Rain Gallery, opening Friday, Feb. 24, with a 5 p.m. reception.
