Breakup rock: Dead Man Winter

Pasatiempo - - RANDOM ACTS -

Dave Simonett married young, had some kids, and recently got a divorce — which he chronicles in melancholic yet uplifting guitar-driven Minneapolis rock on his new album Furnace (Gndwire Records). Cathartic rather than vengeful, Furnace has drawn comparisons to Bob Dylan’s Blood on the Tracks for its broad emotional range and empathy for all parties involved in a breakup. It is Simonett’s second solo album under the moniker Dead Man Winter; he is also known as the frontman of Trampled By Turtles. Dead Man Winter plays at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, at the Bridge at Santa Fe Brewing Company (37 Fire Place). Another Minnesota musical act, the Erik Koskinen Duo, opens the all-ages show. Tickets are $19 in advance, $22 at the door; visit www .santafebrew
