The­ater stu­dents at Santa Fe Univer­sity of Art and De­sign take on Ber­tolt Brecht and Kurt Weill’s mu­si­cal the­ater clas­sic, in the fi­nal pro­duc­tion of the 2016-2017 Greer Gar­son Theatre sea­son. Set in Vic­to­rian Eng­land, the play skew­ers the hypocrisy of the up­per classes and de­lights in the moral am­bi­gu­ity of its an­ti­hero, Macheath — the ti­tle char­ac­ter of the song “Mack the Knife,” which made its way into pop­cul­ture his­tory with cov­ers by Bobby Darin, Frank Si­na­tra, Ella Fitzger­ald, and others. opens at the the­ater on the univer­sity cam­pus (1600 St. Michael’s Drive) at 7 p.m. Fri­day, April 21. Ad­di­tional per­for­mances are at 7 p.m. Sat­ur­day, April 22, and 2 p.m. Sun­day, April 23, and con­tinue the fol­low­ing week.
