Belle Car­pen­ter and Tasha Os­tran­der: Pavilion No. 9 2012, light-jet print mounted to plex­i­glass

Guadalupe St., DeVar­gas Cen­ter, 505-982-3880 In 2011, artist Tasha Os­tran­der pho­tographed a se­ries of fres­cos de­vel­oped by her mother, Belle Car­pen­ter, made un­der the project name Ri­nalda and Ara­bella. Os­tran­der rein­ter­preted the fres­cos us­ing liq­uid com­puter soft­ware to de­velop them into a se­ries of prints. Car­pen­ter en­tered fur­ther col­lab­o­ra­tion with de­signer and em­broi­derer Asif Shaikh to take her images and turn them into wear­able art and em­broi­dered ta­pes­tries. The pop-up ex­hibit of the col­lab­o­ra­tive works, Belle Car­pen­ter and Ri­nalda & Ara­bella, cu­rated by Brave Art Con­sult­ing, opens Friday, May 12, with a reception at 5 p.m.
