Americana by any other name: Jeffrey Foucault

Pasatiempo - - RANDOM ACTS -

Lumping Americana musician Jeffrey Foucault in with any kind of hipster country revival would not only be inaccurate, but it would probably insult him personally. Irony is not in the nature of this Wisconsin-born songwriter. His songs recall old road trips through vast expanses of cornfield and sky, and have a kind of gritty authenticity that makes you think he would win in a bar fight but that violence is probably beneath him. Foucault plays the Kitchen Sink Recording Studio (528 José St., 505-699-4323) at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 17. Tickets are $20; visit www.thekitchensinkstudio.com. — J.L.
