Borderlanders: Max Baca & Los Texmaniacs
Albuquerque native Max Baca is known for his prowess with the bajo sexto — the Mexican version of a 12-string guitar — and as the founder of Los Texmaniacs, a hybrid conjunto-Americana-rock band that puts out a quintessential San Antonio sound. Their 2009 Borders y Bailes (Smithsonian Folkways) won a Grammy Award. The group has performed with Los Lobos and the Rolling Stones and recorded with Lyle Lovett and Alejandro Escovedo. Max Baca & Los Texmaniacs play a free concert on the Plaza as part of the Santa Fe Bandstand series at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, July 5. See www.santafebandstand.org for more information.
