Al­bu­querque na­tive Max Baca is known for his prow­ess with the bajo sexto — the Mex­i­can ver­sion of a 12-string gui­tar — and as the founder of Los Tex­ma­ni­acs, a hy­brid con­junto-Amer­i­cana-rock band that puts out a quin­tes­sen­tial San Antonio sound. Their 2009 Borders y Bailes (Smith­so­nian Folk­ways) won a Grammy Award. The group has per­formed with Los Lo­bos and the Rolling Stones and recorded with Lyle Lovett and Ale­jan­dro Es­covedo. Max Baca & Los Tex­ma­ni­acs play a free con­cert on the Plaza as part of the Santa Fe Band­stand se­ries at 7:15 p.m. on Wed­nes­day, July 5. See www.santafeband­stand.org for more in­for­ma­tion.
