Marriage à la mode: Oasis Theatre Company

Pasatiempo - - RANDOM ACTS - — J.L.

Marriage by the Masters, an evening of classic one-act plays presented by the Oasis Theatre Company, takes a sardonic look at the institution through the eyes of George Bernard Shaw (How He Lied to Her Husband), Anton Chekhov (A Marriage Proposal), and Molière (The Forced Marriage). Awkward proposals, flowery love poems, contrived situations, and inappropriate age differences provide insight into old-school courtship protocols in the age of Tinder hookups. The Oasis Theatre Company, recently relocated to Santa Fe from New York City, offers its inaugural local production at the Adobe Rose Theatre (1213-B Parkway Drive, 505-629-8688) opening on Thursday, July 13, at 7:30 p.m. Performances continue Thursdays through Sundays through July 30.
