Ma­son Bates is an ob­ject of con­sid­er­able in­ter­est in the run-up to the world pre­miere of his opera The (R)evo­lu­tion of Steve Jobs at Santa Fe Opera on July 22. This week­end, at 4 p.m. on Sun­day, July 16, cu­ri­ous lis­ten­ers can get a fore­taste of his mu­sic when the in­trepid Del Sol String Quar­tet (res­i­dents of the San Fran­cisco Bay Area, like Bates) per­form three of his cham­ber works, as­sisted by pi­anist Michael Spassov and with the com­poser adding elec­tron­ica. The per­for­mance takes place in the au­di­to­rium of the New Mex­ico His­tory Mu­seum (113 Lincoln Ave., 505-476-5200). Tick­ets ($15) can be had through the opera’s box of­fice (505-986-5900, 800-280-4654).
