There’s an opera for that
Santa Fe Opera presents the world premiere of The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs on Saturday, July 22. In this issue, composer Mason Bates discusses his work on the opera, which explores technological innovation and the impact it has on humankind. A DJ and the first composer-in-residence at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Bates is known for incorporating electronic sounds into his symphonic works. With librettist Mark Campbell, Bates brings Jobs’ complicated life to the opera house. The composer will be performing the electronic segment of the score himself at every performance.
