NOTICE A CHANGE IN THE VIBES THIS WEEK as the sun enters dramatic Leo on Saturday and thoughtful Mercury is in serious Virgo on Tuesday. The stars encourage us to leave our nests and get out there into the middle of the fray. It’s time to shine, receive, interact, think globally, attend art festivals, and soak up summer’s bounty.

This year we’re lucky enough to have two expressive new moons in Leo, one this weekend and one creating a solar eclipse on Aug. 21. This Sunday’s new moon in Leo begins to stir the pot for this coming eclipse season. Eclipses act like astrological acupuncture to unblock energy, so let’s notice what part of life needs attention and work with it throughout the coming month.

Autumn’s work begins to whisper to us on Tuesday, as Mercury enters industrious and proactive — one might even say obsessive — Virgo. Mercury retrogrades from Aug. 14 to Sept. 6, so it will help to face this review time with plans made, contacts reached, and our fundamentals already organized.

But this weekend, let’s revel in summer. On Friday, while the sun and moon are both in domestic Cancer, stay home and respect one another’s needs. Then get out and about and feel the energy build toward Sunday’s new moon. Monday brings a mental brilliance as Mercury trines Uranus, but some emotional distance, too, while Venus opposes Saturn. Anxiety and intelligence ratchet up midweek as both the moon and Mercury enter analytical Virgo. The moon softens at the end of the week, entering sociable Libra.

FRIDAY, JULY 21: Connect with family, come home, and recenter as the moon wanes in domestic Cancer. Both people and communities need to consider what actually makes them feel more secure. If unfinished family business or recent raw edges need healing, show loved ones simple nurturing consideration rather than try to talk it out.

SATURDAY, JULY 22: Defensive actions and mood swings complicate early morning, so consider sleeping later. The sun enters Leo in mid-morning, encouraging us to wander and take care of ourselves on this contemplative, inefficient day. Evening heats up; adjust to last-minute changes in plans.

SUNDAY, JULY 23: We need to return to what lights our fire, creative process, and romantic heart. But we also need to actively encourage that activity in others. Acts of boundless generosity flow naturally.

MONDAY, JULY 24: Love and affection can feel tested, and our inner adolescent may pout. It may cramp our style to be responsible today, but the results will be worth it. Be good to one another because it’s the right thing to do, even if no one feels like it.

TUESDAY, JULY 25: Feel the shift toward more thoughtful, self-conscious, intelligent, and potentially anxious energies as both the moon and Mercury enter Virgo. If we’re kind to ourselves, it’s easier to be kind to others. Details begin to fall into place; they’re not perfect, but a good start.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 26: The energy is edgy and potentially brittle. We can easily pour our critical approach into improving situations, health, social critique, and political justice. If we only look to loved ones for happiness, we will find them lacking, so let’s give this analytical energy a good place to go. THURSDAY, JULY 27: Take a moment to smooth any ruffled feathers from yesterday’s intensity and use today’s sociable and justice-oriented Libra moon to reach out and reconnect. Help find diplomatic solutions to yesterday’s conundrums.
