Through the centuries: Inon Barnatan
Pianist Inon Barnatan, an audience favorite at the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, has put together a thought-provoking playlist for his appearance this year. His noon recital on Thursday, Aug. 17, features relatively short works or movements by seven composers (Bach, Handel, Rameau, François Couperin, Ravel, Thomas Adès, and Barber) before it culminates in Brahms’ imposing, nearly half-hour-long Variations and Fugue on a Theme by Handel. The recital takes place in St. Francis Auditorium (New Mexico Museum of Art, 107 W. Palace Ave.). Tickets ($10-$36) can be purchased through the festival (www.santafechambermusic.com; 505-982-1890; 888-221-9836, ext. 102). — J.M.K.
