Stephanie Hartshorn: Red Grain
2017, oil on board
Sorrel Sky Gallery, 125 W. Palace Ave., 505-501-6555 Artist Tamara Rymer’s work is inspired by tales of outlaws, traders, and others from the ranch owned by her great-grandparents. She’s a self-taught artist informed by her ongoing experiences in the art of horsemanship. She joins Stephanie Hartshorn for Rural Narratives, a two-person exhibit at Sorrel Sky. In 2009, Hartshorn abandoned a career in architectural design to pursue painting full-time. “I am always looking at things and sensing their history,” she said of her subjects, which are set in rural landscapes and small towns. “It’s almost as if I am appreciating it for all its years of service. I am quietly celebrating its life.” The show is up through September.
