Irma Thomas — known as the Soul Queen of New Or­leans — joins fel­low Grammy win­ners the Blind Boys of Alabama and the Preser­va­tion Hall Legacy Quin­tet for a rau­cously spir­i­tual and up­lift­ing evening con­cert ti­tled The Soul of New Or­leans. Thomas epit­o­mizes Louisiana soul while the Preser­va­tion Hall Jazz Band has a more than 50-year tra­di­tion of high­light­ing the roots and fu­ture of French Quar­ter jazz. The Blind Boys met in the late 1930s as stu­dents at the Alabama In­sti­tute for the Ne­gro Blind; they were first known as the Hap­py­land Ju­bilee Singers. The as­sorted leg­ends play to­gether at the Len­sic Per­form­ing Arts Cen­ter (211 W. San Fran­cisco St.) at 7:30 p.m. on Tues­day, Oct. 10.
