For the love of Ber­lioz: Santa Fe Sym­phony

Santa Fe Sym­phony’s prin­ci­pal con­duc­tor, Guillermo Figueroa, pro­fesses abid­ing af­fec­tion for the mu­sic of Ber­lioz. On Sun­day, Oct. 15, at 4 p.m., the en­sem­ble opens its con­cert at the Len­sic Per­form­ing Arts Cen­ter (211 W. San Fran­cisco St.) with that com­poser’s Le cor­saire

Over­ture and con­cludes it with Shostakovich’s Sym­phony No. 1. In between, vi­o­lin­ist Alexi Ken­ney ap­pears as the soloist in two works: Haydn’s Vi­o­lin Con­certo in C ma­jor (a prod­uct of the com­poser’s early years at the Ester­házy Court) and Dvorˇ ák’s Ro­mance in F mi­nor.
