Sui­cide can be a savvy ca­reer move for a fe­male poet. Both Sylvia Plath and Anne Sex­ton were much more widely read af­ter their deaths. The in­ter­na­tion­ally fa­mous poet Maya Dardel (Lena Olin), her best work decades be­hind her, is think­ing along those lines when she tells Na­tional Pub­lic Ra­dio of her im­mi­nent plans to do the deed.
