BIG WAVE FILM SERIES
This collection of four movies features the singular artistry and daredevil sportsmanship of Laird Hamilton. He’s probably the biggest star in the world of surfing, but he has never been involved in riding on the competitive circuit. Instead, he’s built his reputation around riding big waves. Anchoring the series is Take Every Wave, a new documentary that traces Hamilton’s life, his most grandiose challenges, and the many obstacles he has overcome. It’s by Rory Kennedy, Robert Kennedy’s daughter, best known for The Last Days in Vietnam. To complete the series, there are two other surfing
docs — Step Into Liquid and Riding Giants — as well as the 1987 surfing drama North Shore. Various ratings and running times. Violet Crown.
