Actress Kelly Noonan Gores ( Tooken) goes behind the camera to explore the world of alternative healing. Her quest takes us on a tour of practitioners and patients who have rejected or exhausted Western medicine and found paths to healing in other disciplines. Stress and emotional conflict are seen as the causes of most disease, and the mind as the most powerful agent of cure. As a movie it’s often clumsy, trite, or lacking in imagination. There’s no critical examination of opposing viewpoints, and it sometimes feels like a missed opportunity, but it’s the content, rather than the style, that will appeal to its target audience. Some of the healers will be more familiar than others, some more persuasive than others. Many of the success stories are nothing short of miraculous. Skeptics will probably stay away, believers will be reinforced, and the undecided will find plenty to think about. Not rated. 106 minutes. The Screen.
